Shawn Smith started Shawnimals in 2001 with wife Jennifer Brody after becoming disenchanted with the droves of sketchbooks he had lying around, filled with characters that may not have been used otherwise. ""Why not make plush versions of these simple-shaped characters?"" He thought. Shawn continues to design plush creatures, and also maintains an active studio practice where he works on paintings, drawings, sculpture, customs and much more. His designs continue to grow in popularity, and have been featured in Entertainment Weekly, New York Times, Chicago Sun-Times, and MTV.com, among others.
